Microbiology is a term used to describe the study of microorganisms. The name adds today functional Ecology and molecular biology to the discipline. Microbiology was first used in the late 17th century when Leeuwenhoek discovered bacteria.
Microbes are a diverse group of organisms divided into the following. Viruses, unicellular groups (Archaea, Eubacteria, Protista, fungi, and Chlorophyta). Besides some number of plants with a simple multicellular structure (the more giant mushrooms and Chlorophyta).
Biotechnology is techniques that use living organisms or parts of plants to produce a variety of products (from medicines to industrial enzymes)
Antimicrobial, any agent (including an antibiotic) used to kill or inhibit the growth of microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites).
