Sulphur is a type of dyestuff used frequently on navy overall´s, blacks, and neutrals khaki’s (dull brown) while economic, has only moderate fastness to washing and light. Sulphur (dioxide) is therefore also used in bleaching of textile fabrics. Sulphuric acid has the capacity to fastly absorb water and therefore used in various (however, mostly wool) dye processes. In heavy concentration the chemical can harm the human skin and must be used with care.
