Retting

Retting is a microbial process that breaks the chemical bonds; it allows that hold the stem together, and separation of the bast fibre happen. This separation needed if linen, flax fibre or hemp fibres are to be used in textile. The two traditional types of retting are the field and water retting. Weather conditions can affect the quality of fibre; however, field retting been used extensively for Hemp fibre because of mechanised, inexpensive, and demands no water.
