C3 plants

C3 plants produce a three-carbon compound during photosynthesis, including most trees and agricultural crops such as rice, wheat, soybeans, potatoes and vegetables.

C4 plants

C4 plant, mainly of tropical origin, that produce a four-carbon compound during photosynthesis, including many kinds of grass and the agriculturally important crops maize, sugar cane, millet and sorghum
