Optimum twist
The optimum twist is a term used in spun yarns, to describe a number of twists that gives the maximum breaking strength or the maximum bulk at strength levels acceptable for weaving or knitting. The twist is necessary to give a yarn coherence and strength. The figure above illustrated this. See S-twist and Z-twist
