Human–environment framework (HES)
Human-environment frame is a research framework for environmental, sustainability based on an interdisciplinary theoretical and methodological approach for investigating structures, regulatory mechanisms, and decision processes on hierarchical levels, including individuals (such as consumer behavior), organizations (such as companies), institutions (such as state agencies), and society (such as socio-economic impacts of climate change). The HES framework developed at ETH Zurich, a university in Switzerland.
The scientific study constructed for dealing with complex real-world problems or guiding transdisciplinary case studies. See also complexity and system thinking.
