Denim recycling

Denim Recycling

With millions of blue jeans being used and thrown away every year, most going into landfills, it is important to incorporate recycling or reusing of denim materials into the overall development process. In general, one can list many approaches to reusing denim fabric. The key, however, is the technological feasibility and the economics of the approach. These issues must be resolved prior to take any approach upstream. See also Garneting textiles in the eco fashion dictionary. Potential ways to recycle denim may be divided into two main categories:

(a) conversion of denim garments into fibers through shredding the fabric and reusing the fibers in other products and
(b) using pieces of denim fabrics obtained from waste garments in other products
