Defoliant

Chemical dust or spray applied to plants to cause their leaves to drop off prematurely. Defoliant is often applied to cotton to ease harvesting. Defoliant employed in warfare to cut enemy food crops and potential areas of concealment of enemy forces by South Vietnamese and U.S. forces in the Vietnam War; the most controversial substance being a chemical compound known as Agent Orange
