At the core of developing a sustainable design is to learn a basic set of values and a deep understanding that everything is connected. Sustainable design or meta-design processes use’s tool that is wide and not narrowed. The concept that everything is connected is far from new; in Buddhism, one of the fundamental pillars is a profound understanding that everything is connected and dependent. In sustainable design
Buddhism can teach us that an idea of causality is extremely important. Nothing can exist of its own accord. Translated into a language we understand is that influence through a design process of different scale influence someone or something directly or indirectly locally or global in our society. It can make an impact now, here or elsewhere or soon. Both as a tool of design and sustainable development connected can teach us to be less selfish and evolve compassion, which is one of the main reasons to care for the environment anyhow.
