
Biomineralisation
Biomineralization is a term used to describe a process by which living organisms produce minerals, often to harden or stiffen existing tissues. Examples include calcium carbonates in seashells and bone in mammals and bird. See Nanotechnology, Nanoscale and Nanomaterials.
