Al Gore served as Vice President under Bill Clinton 1993–2001. In addition, an advocate and philanthropist. He served as a Congressman from Tennessee between 1977–85 and 1985–93. However, he is known for his work for the environment; he has founded several non-profit organizations, including Alliance for climate protection.
In 2007 awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, which is the most prestigious. Granted for his work with global for “for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change and to lay the foundations for the measures needed to counteract such change” Nobel Peace Prize. The Nobel’s Committee decided to give him the prize was as follows; “Al Gore has for a long time been one of the world’s leading environmentalist politicians. He is probably the single individual who has done most to create a greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted.”
Today Al Gore regards himself as an environmental activist and author; he published in 2009 the book “An Inconvenient Truth” won a Grammy Award.
In 2007 the documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” was given Academy Award 2006, nominated for Time’s “Person of the year 2007.”
