John F. Kennedy is the first and only President who has won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize. He was awarded the Pacem in Terris posthumously (Latin Peace on Earth), named after a letter Pope John XXIII that calls on all people of goodwill to secure peace among all nations.
He was known for his speeches that are today considered iconic.
Kennedy was awarded Navy and Marine Corps Medal, the Purple Heart, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas presumably by Lee Harvey Oswald under apolitical. His resting place in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia US.
