    • Steve McQueen had a troublesome youth, an outsider since young, rebellious, struggled fitting in and constantly breaking the rules. “I was a wild kid” he stated and “could easily have ended up in jail”
    • Steve McQueen first earned attention as an actor with the role in the Sci-fi classic cult movie “The Blob (1958). However, it was first with films such as “The Great Escape” (1963), “Bullitt” (1968), “The Thomas Crown Affair” (1968) and “The Getaway” (1972) Steve McQueen became a movie star and youth cultural icon in the same league of James Dean, Marlon, Brando and Marilyn Monroe
    • One of the finest car chases in film history takes place in the movie “Bullitt“, in the steep and narrow streets of San Francisco. The films hero “detective Frank Bullitt” played by McQueen (who actually drives the Mustang together with Bud Ekins one of the best Hollywood stunt drivers. The car is a modified 1968 Ford Mustang 390 GT 2+2 fastback while the bad guys drive a 1968 Dodge Charger 440 Magnum, the Charger just a bit faster, both delivered from Ford as a part of a promotional deal
    • Steve McQueen was one of the first actors that signed product placement deals because of his coolness.
  • Why denim icon?
    • The ”king of the cool” roles in Bullitt, Le Mans and Baby the Rain Must Fall from 1965 showed his coolness, and profession as a car-race driver made him attractive for sponsors and marketers.
    • He is the actor with most branded products, Steve McQueen got his signature on products such as Perosol Italian sunglasses, Barbour clothing, Tag Huer Monaco and Rolex Submariner watches and product placement with Ford Mustang cars
