THE GREATEST ENVIRONMENTALISTS OF ALL TIME SERIES

Read the mini-series on the greatest environmentalists of all time

In the series Greatest Original Environmentalist, ¨the This story starts 2500 years ago when a young prince in his search for happiness left all materialism behind in his search for something he never felt inside his castle. Buddha and his view of human psychology and nature are unique. Taking the long line of Indian philosophy and Hinduism into a modern time. Buddha sought truth from a more scientifically point of view and said clearly not to worship any God and strongly said not to see him as any other than a regular man that rediscovered the truth and a way to heal and become permanent happy and enlightened reaching Nirvana from Samsara. simply becoming a Buddha. He was not the first and not the last. Therefore, his view was taken deep into consideration by many others philosophers, scientists and thinkers in modern time as Einstein, Gandhi, and Næss that understood the middle way of religion and science are linked together and not separated. This is now today finally becoming more important than ever as we being to understand epigenetics.

Entering the modern times and two of the greatest thinkers finally meet with a time span of nearly 2500 years between them both in a spiritual and as science matter. One cannot write a personal history of the largest movement in the history of all times without science of Einstein or the spirituality of Buddha. However, between them, three times nominated to the Nobel Peace Prize three times nevertheless, never achieved any* prize. Singlehanded and by nonviolence philosophy Gandhi liberated India and defeated the British Empire; won back a continent so vast and with so many different languages, Kings, and queens that it would not even be possible to do if it today unless there was an extraordinary man, Gandhi.

In the 1970 modern environmentalism started for real  In fact, many names come to mind that can be regarded as  “great”, however depending on the criteria to determine “greatest” not only “great# would depend on a subjective view upon what is the most important action performed in short or long-term perspective.

Arne Næss climbed already in 1950 climbed and lead the expedition first accent, the very technical and climbing outside of the Himalaya´s difficult mountain Tirch Mir 7709 in Pakistan.  During his studies and writing several books on environmental subjects and life philosophy heavily inspired by eastern wisdom Hinduism- Buddhism- Gandhi´s nonviolence and Dutch philosopher Spinoza view on nature.- Arne developed a modern environmental philosophy called deep ecology. His very first ideas came to Næss during1960´s when he was working at Berkley University. Few know his inspiration happened after experiencing LSD at the time.

Gandhi was nominated Nobel Peace Prize 3 times. Nevertheless, never won because of (2nd world war 1939-1945). In my opinion, Gandhi deserves the Nobel Peace Prize prize and seen now, seems strange that his work did not get during his life or after his death. Gandhi is one of the most remarkable person ever to walk on Earth. And most people do not realize his achievement. My favorite quote regarding change and the environment and how important to understand that everyone can make a difference. “You must be the change you wish to see in the world” Gandhi
