Monetarism an approach to an economic policy focused on the control of the money supply which forms a key part of neoliberalism. In a de-regulated system, where banks and other institutions are many fees to lend money, the main, if not the only, way to do that is to use interest rates. There are several problems not thought much of regarding the use of money = well-being and sustainable development, sustainable development is based on three pillars; economic, social, environmental. Since it seems not possible to achieve greater equity in a capitalistic system, due to a human defect called greed, monetarism focus on money control only benefits the power of a rather small percentage (20%) of the global population that got it all, alternative ways on how to measure human well-being is a coming trend. One country that has changed measuring their GDP in money is the small Buddhist country Bhutan that has a system measuring wealth in happiness. Using a set of indicators that together measuring the wealth per capita GHP (gross happiness points)
