Lustre is a term used to describe of fabric or fibre the ability to reflect light. The quality and nature of the reflection may be a useful diagnostic aid. The term ‘lustre’ is often used in conjunction with the qualifying terms such as metallic, resinous, waxy, pearly, silky and greasy. The intensity of the reflection is qualified by descriptions such as shiny og dull. Lustre is not an objective term, however, dependent of the textile quality controller view, feel or handle.
