Bourgeois society is a term used to describe a is a type of society in which exchange relationships replace social relationships in which cultural items such as sports, drugs, foods, sex, and nature (air, water, biodiversity, etc.) become commodities exchanged for profit, and in which private profit is the central test of production. Sociologists also use the term “post-bourgeois industrial society” to describe social-cultural conditions in the late modern era.
