Almost Like A Whale: The Origin Of Species Updated

The Selected Works of Arne Ness: Volumes 1-10: v. 1-10

Probably the greatest green philosopher and activist the last 30 years before he died in 2011. Arne Næss, selected works  Part four of Original Environmentalists from the 70’s Original Environmentalist is a series about the heroes in the history of green lifestyle philosophy and culture. The last man out and a quite unknown hero for most people, Arne Næss the Norwegian philosopher, climber, boxer, environmentalist and warm-hearted man who in the beginning of the 70s started talking about Deep Ecology. What is deep ecology? By any means, Arne Næss popularity and philosophy grow as we speak. Deep Ecology based upon a great respect for all living beings, nonviolence, and self-realization within a personal contact with nature. Deep ecology based upon the view of Gandhi but most of all Mahayana Buddhism, who Buddha shared his wisdom about 2500 years ago. One should not to kill or destroy life. The Buddha gave his lectures on the most central question; not to kill any living including the grass, trees, the sea and mountains one should not take out of nature more than what you need for nature and keep the balance right, he said. The balance he refers to as the middle way.

Ecology, Community and Lifestyle Arne Næss, first published 1976

In 1973, Norwegian philosopher and mountaineer Arne Næss introduced the phrase deep ecology to environmental literature. Environmentalism emerged  as a popular grassroots political movement in the 1960s with the radical involvement from the beginning of the 70s with Global Earth Day, Green peace and other organizations. Deep ecology based upon the view of Gandhi but most of all Mahayana Buddhism, who Buddha shared his wisdom about 2500 years ago, not to kill, not to destroy. Gandhi and the environment

Gandhi followed, understood and practices his wisdom In my series of the world’s greatest environmentalist one cannot pass Gandhi even he was mostly known as a pacifist and his no violence philosophy and direct actions. His great value based upon strictly follow old Hindu sets of value stated in the Vedas. Moreover, he did not only read them, he understood and most of all practiced. Hinduism written words are the oldest religious text we know of, written almost 8000 years ago. In a few of the stories especially in keeping the forest and the trees protected stated with great wisdom and are among the first signs of protection of the nature in these texts.  Recommeded post: Gandhi, in search of a true environmentalist

The Green marketing manifesto, by Hohn Grant, 2008 Genetic Engineering Dream or Nightmare? By Mae-Wan Ho

The great Treatise on the stages of the path to enlightenment, by Lam Rem Chen Mo, Tsong – Kha – Pa, the Lamrim Chenmo Translation

This is one of the brightest jewels in any sacred literature of the world, this incredible insight into a world of Tibetan Buddhism. It was finished in 1402 by the master Tsong-kha-pa and is among Buddhist a classic masterpiece, taking the Buddhist deep philosophy of the human mind into simple practice. Because Buddhism is not complicated, is very simple but it is us who complicate it. Therefore this masterpiece takes it step by step. It’s an essential text for all Buddhism practice  used by students to put the teachings of the Dharma into the daily life. All the Indian classic text demonstrates clearly understandable in a modern world and are the gateway to the higher teaching of the Sutras and Tantras. The work of the great Treatise tells the very vision propounded by Shakyamuni Buddha, who transformed his ego, deluded, restless and struggled mind into the beautiful vision of a man who finally found the answer he was seeking. A life free from a troubled mind were sharing, love, bliss and compassion opened the mind to Buddha hood . Buddha gave us the greatest gift of all, the possibility to find enlightenment in a world of troubled water. The work of the Tibetan master Tsong-kha-pa is actually in 3 volumes and have never before been translated into English. I believe this book is for everyone that is already on the path and curious to not only know about Buddhism but practice Buddhism. If you love the easier literature on Buddhism by The Dalai Lama, who open your heart to it, and by Pema Chödron who makes you start where you are then this book will melt your heart and free your mind. It will be a book that most probably will follow you for the rest of your life. Karma Tshondro Tharchim (Kenneth Lyngaas) PhD Indian religions and philosophies committee.
